Privacy Policy

About this policy

Balanced Bench is developed and operated by Michael Dalzell in Australia. This policy explains how information is handled when you use the Balanced Bench app, visit balancedbench.com, or contact us. It covers the current app’s local storage and user-directed sharing features.

Information stored in the app

You can enter team names, sports, player names and shirt numbers, team colours and logos, game settings, playing-time records, game reports, awards and coaching notes. You can also save training plans, drills, categories, pictures, dated notes and run history. Information imported from a shared file is stored in the same way as information you enter yourself.

These records and your app preferences are stored on your device to provide the features you use. The current app does not require a Balanced Bench account, upload your team records to a developer-operated server, or automatically synchronise them between devices. We cannot remotely read the records stored in your app. Your device’s backup settings may include app data in an Apple or computer backup.

Permissions and optional features

When you select a photo, logo or diagram through the system photo picker, the app uses the selected image for the feature you requested. It does not browse your photo library in the background. You choose which files to import through the system file picker.

If you allow notifications, the app uses local notifications for timer alerts and reminders. You can change notification permissions in iPhone Settings. The current app does not request your contacts, microphone or precise location.

Sharing and exported files

Sharing is initiated by you. Depending on what you export, a .benchshare file, PDF or other report can contain team details, player information, game results, training content, pictures, notes or run history. Check the content and recipient before sharing.

Balanced Bench passes the selected export to the destination you choose, such as Files, AirDrop, Mail or a messaging app. Those services handle the file under their own terms and privacy policies. Exported files are not password-protected by Balanced Bench. Recipients can retain or forward copies, and deleting the original inside the app does not delete exported files or recipients’ copies.

Children’s information

Balanced Bench is designed for coaches and adults managing youth teams. It does not require children to create accounts or contact us. Coaches should enter only information needed to manage their team, follow their club’s privacy requirements, and obtain appropriate permission from parents or guardians where required. Use first names or nicknames where practical, avoid unnecessary medical or other sensitive details in notes, and share children’s information only with authorised recipients.

If you are a parent or guardian seeking access to or removal of a player’s records, contact the coach or organisation holding those records. You can also contact us about information you believe we have received directly.

Support, diagnostics and TestFlight

If you email us, we receive your email address and any name, message, attachments, device details or app version you provide. We use this information to answer your enquiry, investigate problems and improve the app. Please remove player names and other unnecessary personal information from screenshots and attachments.

Apple may provide crash reports, diagnostic information and aggregated app statistics through its developer services. If you use a TestFlight version, Apple handles testing information and may share crash reports, usage information, tester details and feedback with us, depending on the invitation method and information you submit. We use this information to test and improve Balanced Bench. Website and service providers

The Balanced Bench website is hosted on Netlify. Serving and securing the site may involve processing technical information such as an IP address, browser information, requested pages and access times. The supplied website does not include advertising trackers, an email signup form or third-party analytics scripts. Netlify’s handling of hosting information is described in its privacy information: https://www.netlify.com/privacy/.

Support email is handled using Gmail. Apple, Netlify, Google and any sharing services you choose may process information outside Australia, including in the United States and other countries where they operate. Their processing and retention are governed by their applicable policies and service arrangements. Google’s policy is at https://policies.google.com/privacy. We do not sell personal information or use app records for targeted advertising.

Retention, deletion and your choices

App records remain on your device until you remove them using available app controls or delete the app and its local data. Offloading the app can retain its data. Removing a team does not necessarily remove every saved report, plan, export or backup associated with it; check those separately. Copies in Files, email, messaging services, device backups or another person’s device must be managed separately. Restoring a backup or importing an export may restore previously removed information.

You can view and correct records through the app’s available editing controls. We cannot access, correct or erase records that exist only on your device or with another coach. No Balanced Bench account needs to be closed.

We retain support correspondence and any diagnostic information we hold only as long as reasonably needed to resolve enquiries, maintain the app, handle disputes or meet legal obligations. You can request access, correction or deletion of information held by us using the contact below. We may need to verify your identity and may retain information where legally required. Copies held by Apple, hosting or email providers are also subject to their retention arrangements.

Security

We rely on the device’s security protections and restrict access to support information to people who need it to handle the enquiry or maintain the service. Use a device passcode, keep software updated and choose sharing recipients carefully. No device, storage system or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.

Describe the concern and the information involved without sending unnecessary player details. We will review your enquiry and respond, seeking further details if needed. If you are dissatisfied, you can seek guidance about your rights and available complaint options from the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at https://www.oaic.gov.au/ or your local privacy regulator.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app or our information-handling practices change. The revised policy will be published here with an updated date. Where required, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent before making a relevant change.
